A row has broken out between Microsoft and Google after the latter blocked aYouTube app developed for use by Windows Phone based devices.Google claims that the app did not comply with its rules, while Microsoftaccuses the firm of creating false issues.In a public letter posted on the Microsoft website, the company's head lawyerwrote that the objections to the app raised by Google involve requirements for aWindows Phone app that it doesn't impose on Android phones or Apple's iPhone.Microsoft did agree to make modifications to an earlier version of itsYouTube app, but says that it relaunched it this week, only for Google to blockit.The main problem, according to Microsoft is that Google is insisting that theapp be coded in the HTML5 language, which it apparently does not require for itsown Android or iPhone apps.Microsoft says that after trying, and failing, to develop a HTML5 based app,it made a decision this week to publish their non-HTML5 app while committing towork with Google long-term on an app based on HTML5.It was then that Google blocked the app from working.The problem with this of course, is that Google is not complying with thiscondition for Android and iPhone to ensure those apps are also written in HTML5.The company concluded saying that it thinks it's clear that Google justdoesn't want Windows Phone users to have the same experience as Android andApple users, and that their objections are nothing other than excuses.In a statement, Google defended its actions: "Unfortunately, Microsofthas not made the browser upgrades necessary to enable a fully featured YouTubeexperience, and has instead re-released a YouTube app that violates our terms ofservice.
